Northwestern B.C. motocross racers gathered at the Smithers Motocross Association’s (SMXA) track on Donaldson Road last Sunday for the SMXA’s first ever race. The exhibition race drew riders from the length of Highway 16, according to Association President Dan Heideman.

Smithers resident John Hols, who recently moved here after decades in Houston, has returned from Gothenburg, Sweden with a medal after competing in the 18th World Transplant Games. Hols joined over 1,000 athletes from over 50 countries at the Games in June. The Games are open to athletes of all ages who have undergone an organ transplant.

Smithers Golf Club hosts Senior Mens tournament

The Smithers Golf and Country Club hosted the Senior Mens Amateur Tournament last weekend, drawing the best 50 and over golfers from across the north. At the end of two days of warm, sunny play, Don Olson ended up in the top spot with a best Overall Low Gross of 144.
