After half a century exploring, mapping and sometimes re-blazing hiking trails in the Bulkley Valley and surrounding mountain ranges, Einar and Barri Blix have been honoured in a most appropriate way. The Blix Route was officially signed and recognized on September 4, at a ceremony in Babine Mountains Provincial Park.

On Sept. 25, Bulkley Valley residents are invited to celebrate our local waterways with BC Rivers Day. This free, family-oriented event kicks off Sunday morning with a Bulkley River float to Telkwa, where the afternoon continues with games, music and a barbecue.

This year’s annual AIDS Awareness Walk in the Hazelton took place on Sunday and more than 45 people of all ages showed up to participate.

Terry Fox Run happens this Sunday.

In addition to what was presented in last week’s story on Fetal-Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (Poster campaign to educate on drinking and pregnancy, Sept. 7) there are a number of services that can assist people in dealing with the condition.

This coming Sunday is a busy day for outside activists and enthusiasts with two walk/run events in the area.

The South Hazelton Community Association will be starting regular meetings next week on Sept. 20, starting at 7 p.m.

Although an invasion of the living dead is a pretty far-fetched proposition, that didn’t stop creative young writers from creating local narratives about a potential zombie apocalypse this summer.

An electronics recycling event will be held next week at the Hazelton Area Information Centre in New Hazelton.
