Wins have Saltos beaming

The Smithers Saltos gymnastics club recently travelled to a club competition in Prince George, and returned home with some solid results.

In Level 1 Argo, Carmen Burns finished first overall, while Tara Kerr was third, Lauren Woroniuk was fourth, Shaelyn Radu was fifth, Meghan Newberry was sixth, Ivy Bell was seventh, Hannelise Laskowski rounded out the top ten, Olivia Davey finished 11th and Megan Blackmon was 13th.

In Level 1 Tyro, Devyn Young finished first on Beam and fourth overall. Autumne Kumlea was second on Beam and sixth overall. Olivia Moore was 10th overall, and Teslin Weiland finished 11th.

Nadia Maskiewich finished in first place in Level 1 Novice.

In Level 2 Novice, Kiana Moore was third overall, and Chandler Young was 13th.

In Level 3 Tyro, Pyper Burns finished third overall.

In Level 3 Novice/Open, Ali Smaha-Muir finished first overall, with Ashlynn Jackson in third, Josie Kern in sixth and Mikayla Levy in seventh.

Grace Allen finished in first place overall in Level 4, with Haley Allen in third.

In Level 5, Stephanie Bandstra was fourth overall.

The Saltos also had 21 Gymstart athletes competing in the developmental girls category.

The Saltos are hosting a regional competition this weekend, and the public is invited to come out and watch the action. The competition runs Friday evening starting at 4 p.m., all day Saturday, and the Northern Gymnaestrada, a fun event for group routines, will run all day Sunday at the Saltos gym on Main Street between 10th and 11th Avenues.
