Otters win at Kitimat Invitational

The Bulkley Valley Otters swim club travelled to Kitimat two weekends ago to take part in the Kitimat Husky Market Invitational swim meet. A number of swimmers had podium finishes in their events, as well as numerous top 5 finishes.

In the 10 and Under girls group, MacKinley Unruh finished second in the 50m backstroke, the 50m breaststroke and the 100m individual medley, and third in the 200m freestyle and 100m breast. Monica Stevens took first in the 50m butterfly and third in the 50m breast and 100m i.m. Rivers Stokes-deYoung took third in the 10 and Under boys 50m breast.

In the 11-12 girls group, Cassandra Horning-Wandler took first in the 200m free and 200m fly, second in the 100m back, and third in the 200m back and 100m free. Kye McInnis finished third in the 100m fly. In 11-12 boys, Luke Berarducci won the 100m, 400m and 1500m free, the 100m and 200m breast, the 200m fly and the 400 i.m.

Adam David Hartnett took first in the 13-14 boys 800m free. In 15 and Over boys, Nathan Eric Hartnett took third in the 800m free. Brian Dohler finished first in the 200m, 400m and 800m free, as well as the 100m and 200m back, the 200m fly, and the 400m i.m.

The relay team of Dohler, Berarducci and the Harnetts took second place in both the 400m free relay and the 400m medley relay.
