McHappy Day raises funds for Smithers child development centre

McDonald's Smithers will donate $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot McCafe drink to the BVCDC on McHappy Day today.

McDonald’s workers have been practicing their smiles ahead of today’s McHappy Day fundraiser.

The franchise will donate $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot McCafe beverage purchased today to the Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre (BVCDC) or Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provide accommodation for families of sick children.

BVCDC executive director Kerri Bassett said the money raised from McHappy Day would go towards the centre’s campaign to make their services more accessible by building a new facility on Columbia Drive.

“We are very excited about the gracious donation from McDonald’s,” said Bassett.

“This donation will enhance the funds that we are looking at raising for the capital campaign.”
