Warm temperatures and forecasted rain has promoted the BC River Forecast Centre to issue a High Streamflow advisory for the Bulkley River near Smithers.
The region's snow pack is melting rapidly, thanks to the recent warm weather. The weekend's rain also added to the problem and more rain is expected to fall over the next couple of days.
The river at Quick is rising at 11 cm a day and is currently flowing at approximately 85 per cent of the 2-year flow level. The river near Smithers has risen 12 cm since Saturday and is rising half a cm an hour.
The BC River Forecast Centre is expecting river levels to remain elevated into the week and modest rises are possible.
