Freezing rain warning for Bulkley Valley

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the Bulkley Valley and surrounding area.

Statement from Environment Canada:

 

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Bulkley Valley and The Lakes – northwest including Smithers
  • Bulkley Valley and The Lakes – southeast including Burns Lake

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.A warm front will bring freezing rain to the North Coast – Inland and Bulkley Valley and The Lakes regions tonight as warm Pacific air overrides sub-freezing surface temperatures. The freezing rain is expected to end tonight as the warm front weakens.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
