Four killed in head-on collision Saturday night

Two men, aged 67 and 75, and two women, aged 83 and 65, killed.

Four people were killed in a head-on collision just west of Moricetown on Saturday evening.

At about 6:30 p.m., New Hazelton and Smithers RCMP, along with officers from West Pacific Traffic Services were called to a head-on collision between a van and a SUV about 36 kilometres west of Smithers.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was confirmed that two men, aged 67 and 75, and two women, aged 83 and 65, were killed in the accident.

According to Drive BC, Highway 16 was closed to all traffic from 6:30 until about 3 a.m., when the road was re-opened to single-lane alternating traffic.

North District Traffic Services and the BC Coroner's Office are still investigating the incident.
