An 800 hectare fire is burning 15 km east of Houston and 2.5 km west of China Nose Mountain.
The Northwest Fire Centre said there is one unit crew and three initial attack crews and five helicopters battling the blaze.
It is not currently contained.
“They did see up to rank 6 fire behaviour yesterday so it is quite active and that is mostly due to the extremely dry weather and strong gusty winds,” said fire information office Olivia Pojar.
Currently no structures or properties have been threatened but the RDBN has put out on evacuation alert for areas surrounding the fire.
Pojar believes the fire is lighting caused.
