Bear hunter killed south of Houston

A 59-year old bear hunter was shot and killed in the Tahtsa Reach Forest Service area on Monday.

A 59-year old bear hunter was shot and killed in the Tahtsa Reach Forest Service area on Monday.

Police got a report of the shooting at 3:15 p.m. May 26, and found the shot, deceased man 112 km south of Houston, said an RCMP press release.

The man was an American citizen bear hunting with guides in the area and his family was notified with the help of Washington state authorities.

The man's name and further details about the incident are not being released at this time.

The case is under investigation by Houston RCMP, North District Major Crime Unit, North District Forensic Identification Unit and the BC Conservation Service.
