I am one of the high chiefs who represent our traditional territory northwest of Terrace. I am opposed to the construction of the NW Transmission Line going through our traditional territory, which is within the Gitwangak Traditional Territory. I contacted B.C. Hydro officials last year, and told them they should not be talking to Gitxsan Treaty Society, as they do not represent our traditional territory. The senior officer agreed to consider my authority as a high chief of the said territory, and since then, he has not spoken to me or to my co-hereditary chief in my family.
