This Labour Day holiday weekend was a super reminder of how unique and stunningly beautiful our valley is.
A ride up the chairlift happens in August every year and each weekend the lift gently swings us to the top of the mountain ski runs.
The ride to the top of our mountain is an opportunity for all ages. We car-pooled and bought our senior half-price tickets. A little gaffer, likely not yet two, rode up in a nearby chair with his folks, and adding to our fun, when he got off he stomped his feet and showed off his new hiking boots.
We enjoyed our bbq burger while taking in a swoon-worthy view of the valley and the mountains circling it.
There is a well-placed bench a half-hour trek up from the hut at the chair and we met several groups, and even single riders, biking over from other runs. They worked hard for the view that none of us took for granted.
Telkwa’s Labour Day BBQ Beef is a family affair. The day starts with a pancake breakfast in the hall and beef gets pulled out of the pit at around noon. The annual Telkwa BBQ is coupled with a softball tournament. To keep the whole family entertained there is a beautifully set up playground for the little tykes.
Also for the little ones, while waiting for their favourite softball team to take a turn on the field, young enthusiasts got to play ball on a tiny diamond of their own.
It's a crazy, hectic world at times with so much to draw our attention. We can have a breath of fresh air for our soul on the top of our mountain or in the valley bottom where the rivers meet.
