Congratulations to our graduates from Smithers Secondary School. Well done! Continue in life with your work, effort and ethics. Many paths, for you to consider, will open.
There was a block party in Driftwood to celebrate the Old School and an invitation for some community fun.
A committee, with Andrew L’Orsa as the chairman, oversees the caretaking of the Driftwood Schoolhouse. Under their guidance, this little corner, at the junction of Driftwood and the Telkwa High Road, connects those living in a rural community to each other.
Saturday, June 21, the first full day of summer, and while the sun gave its promised warmth, children played and neighbours renewed friendships. There were moments that honoured all who have, over the years, kept this little schoolhouse the hub of a community.
Canada Day, July 1st, the Town of Smithers is hosting a celebration at Bovill Square from noon to 3:30. In a very Canadian tradition, there will be ice cream and poutine.
The museum is hosting a history walk, starting from the train station at 10 a.m.

Just a few hours down our highway, Cluculz Lake will be hosting a parade of watercraft of all types. Last year, to celebrate Canada Day, they had 100 boats floating and decorated. Their captains and passengers were out there to celebrate Canada's birthday.
One of the pontoon boats had a horn band. This Canada Day may see the biggest flotilla yet.
It’s officially the last day of school today! As the kids tuck away their pencils and textbooks, the outdoors awaits. Have fun and keep safe everyone.
