A word to dog killers

Editor:

To the young man in the black pick-up with the wooden flat deck who broke our hearts on Dieter Road on April 24: you could have avoided our little black dog standing still in the middle of the road.

She was puffed out from a short run, a perfectly visible target.

She was far enough up the road that you could have slowed down.

I know this because I was tearing out the driveway as she watched you accelerate to cruelly crush her skull.

I am not an irresponsible owner; that 60 seconds was the only minute of her life that she ever slipped away and entered a road.

I know this has happened before, and you know who you are.

I appeal to all of you who choose to break families’ hears this way. Please realize what you are doing before you take aim.
