Have you seen the ad for toothpaste for sensitive teeth? It’s supposed to foam up and reach between teeth.  No caution on the bottle, put a good amount on my toothbrush, stuck it in my mouth and it was like an explosion! My mouth immediately filled with foam, cheeks puffing out, gagging on foam, swallowing foam, drooling foam. Not a pretty sight. I urge  you to try a tiny bit first, it is good stuff with explosive potential.

The Salvation Army has launched the Dignity Project, designed to educate and inform the public about the challenges of poverty. A report titled Myths about Poverty Persist Throughout Canada includes data that nearly 50 per cent of Canadians feel that a family of four could get by on $10,000 to $30,000 per year or less, that if poor people really want to work, they can always find a job, that people who live in poverty in Canada “still have it pretty good” and that the poor would “take advantage” of any assistance given and “do nothing” with support provided. Eighty-one per cent agree that helping poor families sets up their children for success. To view the report visit salvationarmy.ca.

Betty Chapman had a happy 90th birthday sung to her at the Seniors’ lunch. Opposite end of the age scale was Tess, a little girl just over a year, great-granddaughter of Louise Schat, totally enjoying the lunch.

Friends of the Smithers Library will be holding their AGM on March 21, at 7 p.m. at the library. Open to all, come and see what we do. We only meet every few months, participation is open to all ages, it is worthwhile, a fun way to contribute to this community. Where would we be without a library?
