A farewell to a trio of great officers

Three years ago the Hazelton’s welcomed back Corporal Don Wrigglesworth and his family for his second tour of duty in the area and several other new officers.

Throughout the past few years Don has been a familiar face for many and is well recognized by residents. He not only worked in a professional and approachable manner in many serious local incidents but he also gave a lot to the communities in his spare time. He coached several soccer teams for the past three years and also helped coach and organize the initiation league minor hockey team. And he has not been alone in his dedication to his community. Fellow officers Dave Running and Jordan Canuele have also spent countless hours coaching and helping out for the past few years.

In addition all of their incredibly talented wives have also played major roles in the community working and giving back as much as they can. All three families also have wonderful children that many have come to know and loved.

However, as the saying goes, all good things must come to end and so too has all three’s RCMP term at the New Hazelton detachment. Which of course means the wonderful wives and their amazing children are also departing for different areas this week.

I am not sure if many people realize what a great contribution these three families have made over the past few years but I know many of us will miss them all in many ways and all of them are leaving behind big shoes to be filled.

There is already several new RCMP officers here and I know they are still trying to fill the jobs of the three.

For me as a reporter I am really going to miss the great working relationship with Don, Dave and Jordan as I follow news and this usually means I see the RCMP at most big news situations such as accidents, big community events and much more.

I am very confident that in many places the police and media do not always get along and I am pleased to say that this is not the case in the north and in the Hazeltons and that is thanks to having great members for the past decade since I have been covering events for my communities.

So this week I just wanted to thank these three phenomenal families for being such a positive part of our area for the past three years. They will all be missed by many and I believe anyone who had the pleasure of knowing them wishes them all the best in their next adventure. With that said,

I would like send them off with a huge heartfelt thank you to them for everything and I hope they will miss the Hazeltons as much as the Hazeltons will miss them.
