William “Richard” Dial

March 25, 1921 to March 19, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Dial.

Richard was born in Innisfail, Alberta to Mabel May (Armstrong) and Raymond Richard Dial. He grew up on their family farm near Innisfail with his brothers and sisters.

As a young man, Richard enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England during the second World War.

Upon his return to Canada he met the love of his life Audrey Eldra Graham. Richard and Audrey were married in 1950 and welcomed three children.

Richard worked primarily in the propane industry, as a truck driver and gas fitter. In 1968 he was transferred to Smithers with Canadian Propane as branch manager. He remained in Smithers until his death.

Richard was active, enjoying bowling, golfing, gardening and spending time with his family. His sense of humour was legendary and he will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Richard was predeceased by his parents Ray and Mabel, siblings James, Lane, Helen and Harold, and his wife of 55 years Audrey.

He is survived by his children Patrick (Valerie) Dial of Prince George, Laurie Beaton of Smithers, and Karen (Lorne) Benson of Smithers; grandchildren Chris, Melissa, Mark, Evelyn, Richard, Janet and Michelle; great-grandchildren Allison, Parker, Kobi, Lane, Ella and Lily; brother Robert, sisters Melba and Linda, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Tea will be held on April 24, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 3840 1st Ave., Smithers. All friends are welcome.
