Bill Kilpatrick ‘Killer’

March 17, 1935 – October 27, 2011

William G. Kilpatrick was born on March 17th, 1935 to proud parents Norman and Jean Kilpatrick of Smithers, B.C. A Saint Patrick’s Day baby, Bill always proclaimed that the “bells were ringing” when he was born.

Bill (aka ‘Killer’) grew up with a passion for baseball, friends, family, and a good argument over a beer (or two!). He spent time working for CN and BC Hydro, where he met numerous people who became lifelong friends. Later on, he became part owner of the Hilltop Pub–a dream job realized.

He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Jean Kilpatrick, his brother Norman Jr. (Mary), and his nephew Douglas Kilpatrick.

After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Bill died peacefully with family at his side at Bulkley Valley District Hospital on October 27th, 2011. A special thank you to the many nurses and doctors at BVDH, especially Dr. Pretorius, Dr. Hart, and Dr. Bastian.

He is survived by his brother Allan (Elvina) Kilpatrick of Comox, B.C. and sister Jean (Ed) Maskiewich of Smithers, B.C.; sons Lee and Ryan Kilpatrick of Victoria, B.C., daughter Megahn Kilpatrick, and daughter Billiejean (Jeremy) Beaubien of Smithers B.C. He is survived by three beautiful grandchildren who brought him tremendous joy; Clare, Holly, and Noah Beaubien. Bill is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Smithers on November 12th, from 2-5pm with an Open Mic.
