March 27, 1943 - September 10, 2021
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Bill Van Horn on September 10, 2021.
Bill was born on March 27, 1943, in Smithers. He was the youngest of seven children to Bernie and Laura Van Horn. He grew up on the family farm on top of Hislop road in Telkwa. In his early days Bill helped his family on the farm and worked at the Hidber sawmills.
He met Lynn (McCammon) in 1963 and they were married in 1964, going on to have Lorinda (Lori), Christy and Jason. They were happily married for 56 years. In 1972, Bill and Lynn together built and ran their company Glacier Roofing. They were successful in business for 36 years and retired in 2008.
During their retirement, Bill and Lynn moved full time out to their residence at Smithers Landing on Babine Lake. Bill had many interests, talents, and hobbies during his retirement. You could often find Bill in his shop working on his latest woodworking project, harvesting firewood, boating, snowmobiling, and socializing with their many treasured friends and family. Their memories of "the lake" will always be treasured by his family. In 2016, Bill and Lynn moved back to Smithers.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lyn; his mother-in-Law, Pat McCammon; his children, Lori (David), Christy (Mark) and Jason; his grandchildren Aaron, Linsay, Misheala, and Myah; brother Jim (Fay) Van Horn and many loving nieces and nephews.
His family was truly blessed to learn many valuable lessons from him and were so proud of all that Bill accomplished. Bill will be forever remembered for his love, generosity, and strength.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
