Wayne Petersen of Hazelton passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021 at Wrinch Memorial Hospital. Wayne was born in 1926 in Skive, Denmark. He immigrated to Canada in 1951. Wayne worked at Alcan Aluminum's startup in Kitimat. It was there he met his future bride Elizabeth Morford. They were married in 1958 and moved to Hazelton shortly afterward. Together they farmed, logged ,sawed lumber and raised 3 boys. In 1966 they relocated to Terrace where Wayne logged and Elizabeth resumed teaching. In 1990 they retired and moved back to the farm at Hazelton to the mountains that they both loved. Wayne was predeceased by Elizabeth in 2014. He is survived by their 3 sons: Stephen (Clarann), John (Karen) and Andrew (Christine), 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Wayne had a long and eventful life. His presence and vitality will be missed by all.
