Walter Henry Boyd Haywood (Harry) of Kamloops, B.C. passed away June 14, 2002 at 79 years of age. Beloved husband of Mardie and loving father of Sandra (Denny) Mould, Nancy (Robert) White, Doug (Terri) Haywood and Glenn (Glenda) Haywood, and stepchildren Janice (Dave) Horne, Linda (Dave) Giddens, David (Grace) Rees, and Trevor (Robyn) Rees. Also left with special memories are grandchildren Kerry, Darlene, Teri Lynn, Shelly, Jennifer, Amanda, Kyle, Josh, Toni, Kristyn, Lauren, Jessica, Kevin, Cole, Daniel, Lee, and Andrew; great grandchildren Rebbecca, Sarah, and David; and his sister Phyl of England.


Predeceased by his first wife, Mary, a brother and a sister.


Harry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1923, where he grew up before joining the R.C.A.F. (Communications). He later moved to B.C. where he met and married Mary Fowler. Harry was the Fire Chief in Smithers, B.C. for 40 years and in 1987 retired to Kamloops. He and Mardie were married and enjoyed traveling for the past 14 years.


The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Royal Inland Hospital 3 West and Pine Grove Lodge.


A Service of Remembrance was held at 10:30 on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at St. George’s Anglican Church, 308 Royal Avenue. Reverend Jack Phelps officiating.
