Viola Mae Simpson June 26, 1922 - November 27, 2004-12-01
Viola was born in Viceroy, Saskatchewan. After the death of her parents she lived with relatives in Prince Albert and Regina. She married her
husband Eric in 1945 and her daughter Doreen was born in 1947. The
family moved to North Vancouver in 1958. Viola worked as a dietary aide
for many years at Lion’s Gate Hospital and after the death of her
husband in 1978 she moved to Smithers to be near to her family. She
worked at Bulkley Valley District Hospital and played a large role in
the raising of her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband,
James (Eric) Simpson, her brother Lloyd Jordan, and her sisters Odiele
Boone and Florence Sinkler. She is survived by her daughter Doreen (Bob)
and her grandchildren Jennifer Danielson (Michael) and Robyn Haslett
(Kurt Schwartz) and several nieces and nephews. Viola will be remembered
for her hard work and perseverance through the many challenges life
presented to her. Her greatest treasure was her family. We would like to
commend Dr. Blouw and the staff at Bulkley Lodge for the care,
compassion and affection shown to Viola during her many years in
residence. She passed away, quietly, holding the hands of those she
loved and those who loved her.
