Shirley Veronica (McCauley) Collins born 14 December 1925 Winnipeg, MB, passed away peacefully 3 May 2015 Houston, B.C.

Shirley was predeceased by her loving parents Robert and Myrtle McCauley, two sisters Leila (Phil) Durrant and June (Harry) Jackson, and the love of her life Kelson George Collins. She is survived by her daughter Jocelyn (Hugh) Bell, grandchildren Deanna and Robert (Shelly) and great grandchildren Collin, Hayden and Hunter, brother-in-law Ray and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Shirley was a founding member of the Houston Catholic Women’s League and a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active in the BC & Yukon Cancer Society and one of the most aggressive ticket sellers to grace the streets of Houston.

She loved to “bond” so positively with everyone she met and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. She was an avid curler and bridge player in the earlier years in the many mining communities across NW Ontario, B.C. and NWT. Later she loved golfing, walks and working out with Jocelyn and “the girls”. Her vivacious spirit will be greatly missed by our family and our community. May you continue to guide and watch over us from above “Mom”.

Sincere thanks to the Houston Paramedics, Fire Department, Home Support and Residential Care, Dr. Preto, Dr Vestvik, Dr. Kim, Dr. Flynn, Father Pier Pandolfo and all those individuals that cared for mom in the last seven months. Each and every one of you went above and beyond and the family will be forever grateful.

A Memorial Service was held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Friday, May 8th, 2015. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice, the dearest to moms heart were the BC Cancer Society, Catholic Women’s League Houston and the Royal Canadian Legion Br 249.
