Sharon Kay Hamilton passed away in Ladysmith BC, July 14, 2019 at the age of 70 with her faithful husband, Roy Hamilton, of 17 years, by her side.
Sharon was born in Centralia, Washington on December 15, 1948 to Nadine and Robert Lee. The family then moved to Oregon, where she grew up with her 3 siblings, Larry Lee, Dennis Lee and Roberta Cox. Sharon was a bright and vivacious girl that quickly fell in love with her lifelong passions for swimming and literature. After attending Oregon State College, Sharon moved to Smithers, BC to join her parents and sister. Here she raised her 4 babies; Shannon Drumm, Wendy Ravai, Donna Coldwell and Robert Lamb. An early job in bookkeeping led her to becoming a Certified General Accountant. An occupation she took great pride in. A loyal and dedicated professional Sharon embodied integrity, accountability and a strong work ethic.
Sharon valued learning and growth above all else. She was a great supporter of education, events, travel and gaining new life experiences. This was especially important in her relationships with her grandchildren. She took great care to facilitate opportunities for them through summer camps, ski trips, Disney adventures, garage sale finds and one on one conversations. They will always remember their grandma and how much she loved them through the memories she created.
No matter who you were Sharon always made the effort to communicate with you in a way that made you feel special and heard. She was an active member of the United Church of Canada that truly valued community, faith and altruism.
A very special thanks to Roy Hamilton, her husband and Dr. Valerie Masuda. These two exceptional humans supported and cared for her through her long debilitating battle with cancer.
Sharon's celebration of life will be held at the Chemainus United Church on 9814 Willow Street in Chemainus, BC, July 29th, 2019 at 2 pm.
Roy has requested that Sharon would prefer donations to the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society, 3122 Gibbins Rd Duncan, BC, V9L 1G2 in lieu of flowers.
