HACKLE, SANDRIA (Sandy) passed away suddenly on September 29, 2011 in the Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers, BC with her husband Garry by her side.

Sandy was born in Wuppertal Germany on May 17, 1947. Her parents John (Jack) and Gisela Haubrick moved to the beautiful Bulkley Valley in 1950 where Sandy made a lifetime of memories and friends who she held close to her heart up to her last moments. She met her loving and lifelong companion Garry in 1965 in the home they would eventually live as a family and raise their children. They married on September 3, 1966, recently celebrating their 45th anniversary.

Sandy enjoyed the simple things in life and always found the good in others. She was very proud of growing up and making Smithers her home. She enjoyed reminiscing and visiting with her friends, past and present. Sandy loved to entertain and always made her home welcoming and comfortable to those who visited. On occasion, entertaining went into the wee hours of the morning with lots of music, dancing and laughter. One of her favorite things to do was to spend hours with Garry on their deck listening to music and enjoying each others’ company and the valley’s beauty.

Sandy will be remembered as a beautiful wife, wonderful mother and dear friend. Fond memories – her smile, her laugh, her compassion will live within each of us forever.

“Sandy will be sadly missed”

Sandy is survived by her loving husband Garry, her son George (Karen) and her daughter Tanya (Ken), and her grandchildren Amy and April; sister Christine (Sue), brothers Colin (Ursula) and Brian (Shelley); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Marius Scholtz, the doctors in attendance; Dr. Darren Jakubec, Dr. Barbara Kotze, Dr. Jon Mickelson, all the ER staff and the ambulance attendants. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank all their family, friends and the residents of the Bulkley Valley for all their overwhelming support and compassion.

A Celebration of Sandy’s life was held on Tuesday, October 11th in the Smithers Royal Canadian Legion. Memorial Tributes in Sandy’s name were requested to the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, Box 4584, Smithers, BC, V0J 2N0 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1480 – 7th Ave., Prince George, BC V2L 3P2.
