Lundquist, Ruth Irene (nee Brendt) passed away April 11, 2008, in the Bulkley Lodge in Smithers, B.C., at the age of 89 years.

Ruth was born on May 5, 1918, in Alsask, Sask., to Sara and Henry Berndt. She attended Highland Park School until the age of 11 when the family moved to a farm at Round Lake. It was there in 1937 that she met and married the neighbours son, Ross Gowanlock.

Ruth was widowed in 1953 and moved to Telkwa and then in 1956 went on to live in Smithers with her three children. She worked for the Post Office for 17 years. In 1960 Ruth married Gunner Lundquist and gave birth to another son.

Ruth is survived by her loving family: son Walter Gowanlock of Smithers, daughters Irene Pigeon of Edmonton, Pat Oulton of Smithers, and son Gustav Lundquist of Kelowna. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the R.A. Schrader Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Karen Millard officiating. Memorial tributes to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are requested in lieu of flowers.

Cremation was requested. Arrangements entrusted to the R.A. Schrader Funeral Home, Smithers, B.C.
