Rose Carlisle
October 3, 1935 ~ January 10, 2010
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our Family Matriarch, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Rose Carlisle, after her 18 month struggle with advanced Colon Cancer.
Predeceased by her Husband: Ivan Carlisle(1981), Son-in-Law: Al Giddings(1993), Mother(1996) and her Father(1977). Rose is survived by Children: Bev, Nancy, Bob and Les; 10 Grandchildren; 4 Precious Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Joyce, Marilyn, Betty and Sharon and Brothers: Sonny and Wayne & numerous Nieces, Nephews & long time Friends.
Rose was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan. Her Family moved to Manitoba in 1941, where she met Ivan and was married in 1957. Ivan’s work in Hydro took them to Calgary, Alberta in 1965, to Smithers, BC in 1968 and then to Port Alberni, BC in 1976. Rose worked as a Telephone Operator in Souris, Manitoba and in Smithers, BC. She was a hard worker and loved Life – As well as Gardening, Music, Making Wine, Curling, Travelling, Volunteer Work and Animals.
The family wishes to thank the Nursing staff and Doctors at West Coast General Hospital with a special thanks to palliative care Doctor Wendy Johnson for trying to keep her comfortable the last 6 weeks of her life.
