Passed peacefully on August 01 in Hazelton, B.C., surrounded by his family. Dearly loved by his wife Ramona (Dusty) nee DeRoose of 64 years, daughters Ramona, Brenda, Loree (John), son Ron Jr.(Marie), grandchildren Jay Griffiths and Tara Griffiths and great-grandchildren Ashton Wann and Skylar Griffiths. Pre-deceased by his parents, John and Mary Pilchak, and sisters, Rita Neuls and Ethel Currie.
Ron was born in Kapasvar, Saskatchewan, In his school years, he was a Notre Dame Hound (Wilcox, SK). Ron spent many of his working years as Park Superintendent in Banff, Yoho, Kootenay and Riding Mountain National Parks. In 1966 he was transferred to Ottawa. For many years, Ron found great joy in a heritage stone house and hobby farm in Oxford Station, Ontario. He was passionate about nature and animals. After retiring in 1991, Ron and Dusty returned to the west and built their log home on the Skeena River in Kitwanga, B.C. He devoted his life to working hard and enjoying his many friends.
A Funeral Mass for Ron will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hazelton, BC on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 11:00 am with Father Simon Agboso officiating. Interment to follow in the community cemetery in Kitwanga, BC. Refreshments and a celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 2:00pm in the Kitwanga Community Center. Donations made to a charity of your choice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
