September 1, 1950 - January 24, 2019
Rod Gourlay, beloved husband, son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather passed away in the loving presence of his daughters Michelle and Kathleen and wife Elizabeth on January 24th in Parksville BC.

Rod was an avid golfer who believed that one should golf on all days ending with 'y', which of course is everyday.

Rod was born in England and emigrated to Kitimat in 1966. The majority of his career was spent driving for Greyhound in northern BC. The variety of jobs Rod held over the years provided wonderful stories which kept family and friends highly amused.

He was proud of his Scottish heritage and loved Robbie Burns night, when he would wear his kilt and give a rousing ode to the haggis. He was a kind, caring man who made friends easily, lovingly keeping those connections throughout his life.

He enjoyed witty repartee with close friends. He loved riding his Yamaha motorcycle. Dogs, birds (especially hummingbirds), dragonflies and the beauty of the Bulkley Valley held a special place in his heart. Rod was a spiritual being, who cherished his divine identity. He will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life for Rod will be held in Parksville in the Spring.
