December 24, 1946 – September 25, 2020
Robert Wayne Mansfield was born December 24th, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. He passed away in his sleep at the age of 73 in Abbotsford Hospital, British Columbia. Robert, or Bob, as he was known to most, began his lifelong journey as an artist as a young child who loved to draw and paint.
After graduating with a degree in art from the University in Kansas, he took a job in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he showed in numerous galleries, co-founded a gallery, and received several government commissions. Bob continued to paint and show his work throughout his life, most recently in Smithers and Terrace, BC.
Bob’s faith as a Christian was an integral part of who he was. His passion was studying the Bible, specifically eschatology. He pastored a home church in Kansas for 11 years, and more recently, taught at churches in the Hazeltons and Kitseguecla, BC.
Bob was the life of the party. He was a great dancer. He loved to tell stories, but he also had the gift of drawing stories out of others. He enjoyed people, and they responded to him. Even his last days in the hospital, he was a favorite with the doctors and nurses.
Robert leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Daria Mansfield, two sons, Benjamin and Richard, and three grandchildren, Andrew, 15, Alex, 12, Nikki, 3, as well as his brother, Richard, and sister, Barb. He will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held for Robert Mansfield in Smithers, B.C. on October 17, 2020. You may call or text 250-643-9442 for more details.
