BLACKSTOCK, Robert David

March 22, 1930- February 12, 2016

We sadly announce the passing of our loved one. After a long battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully in Wrinch Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Thelma, his children Victoria (Leonard), Linda, Wendy (Shubert), Catherine (Leonard) and Robert (Lisa), and his brother Delvin (Helen). And his loyal companion / nurse Precious.

He will be missed by his grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Shelley, Chris, Trevor, Robert and Allison as well as his great grandchildren, Cassius, Chloe, Emma, Ivy, Shaya, Justyce, Skye, Maxymis, Meadow, Hailo, Ilya, Jrake, Jett and Rylee as well as many relatives and friends

We would like to thank Dr. Neville and staff at VGH, the hospital staff at Wrinch Memorial Hospital, the staff at Smithers Cancer Clinic for all the years of administering his chemo, the Hazelton Hospice Society for sitting with dad in the family room, Gitxsan Health Society for providing home care for all these years, and all the friends and family that were so helpful in our time of need.

He was our hero, he was a truck driver for all of his life until he retired and has made some lifelong friends from here and around BC. He loved camping and took most of the grandkids with them and they love to camp now as well. He also risked his life to save a school bus full of children from Sik-E-Dakh, which they fondly remembered at his Celebration of Life.

A life well lived, you are in our hearts forever and will be sadly missed. Condolences may be offered at www.raschraderfuneralhome.com.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
