October 13, 1946 - June 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
With regret, we announce the passing of our beloved Uncle Bob.
He was born October 13, 1946, in Owen Sound, ON. He had a brother Jim and a sister Jean.
In 1974 Uncle Bob and Uncle Jim set out to northern B.C. from the lower mainland in search of property. They purchased land in Smithers found jobs, and Aunt Judy our grandmother and our cousins made their way. They really transformed the property over the years, adding a second dwelling, gardens, animals and outbuildings making it a homestead. Smithers remains a very special place to our family, especially the property on Raceway Road.
Uncle Bob primarily worked as a small dozer operator, working for Ranch Trucking and then Trevor White. Near the end of his working days, he stayed at several remote job camps where he and his pal Copper kept the sites secure. Uncle Bob was a lover of dogs, all animals really. He loved to read and in his later years he enjoyed audiobooks, they fit better into his "busy" schedule he said. Uncle Bob liked to hunt and had a real passion for shooting guns. He was a member of the gun club and was really interested in the history of older model firearms. For many years he loved to ride his Honda Silver Wing to visit our mom and us kids in the Okanagan and touring around with his brother Jim.
He is preceded in death by his father Wilbert, mother Harriet, sister Jean and nephew Danny.
He is survived by his brother Jim (Judy) Campbell of Smithers, B.C., nephews Mike (Amy) Campbell of Smithers, B.C., James (Susan) Streeter of Armstrong, B.C., nieces Diane (Silvio) Scalise of Calgary, AB, Rebecca (John) Orton of Vernon, B.C., and eight great nieces and nephews all of Armstrong and Vernon, B.C.: Elizabeth, Megan, Alexandre, Sydney, Victoria, Ian, Annamarie and Nolan.
There will be no public Celebration of Life.
You will be in our hearts forever Uncle Bob
