Robert “Bob” Birch

July 28, 1927 – May 26, 2009

Robert (Bob) Birch passed away unexpectedly and at peace at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years on Tuesday May 26th.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lyla of 59 years, six children and their families, seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Over the years Bob was a partner in Birch & Froese Contracting in Terrace and owned his own businesses in the logging industry. Later he worked for the Department of Transport at the Smithers and Victoria airports. When he retired Bob and Lyla built their home in Osoyoos and spent many years caring for their orchard with Carlos and Ana Pereira. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and loved working on projects with his friend Harry Mueller.

Interment and committal were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 30th at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Phil Johnson officiating. A celebration of his life was held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 30th at the Birch residence in Osoyoos, with our thanks to the ladies of the Osoyoos Baptist Church for the refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Samaritan’s Purse, 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, AB T3J 5H5.

The family of the late Robert Birch would like to thank the caring staff at ICU in the Penticton Regional Hospital especially Andrew.
