November 8, 1953 – January 14, 2021
Robert passed away suddenly in Burns Lake on Jan. 14, 2021. He was born to Peter Anderson and Gladys Anderson (nee Ekman), and raised on the Anderson farm on Hungry Hill in Telkwa. From the time he was able to swing an axe (probably even before that), Robert knew hard work.
Robert was as fearless and independent as they come and could accomplish anything. He had an unparalleled work ethic and didn’t know how to take a day off. From ranching, to logging, to gravel excavation, to snow plowing, when he made up his mind to do something, it was as good as done.
Robert was smart as a whip, with endearing sass and quick comebacks rivalled only by his late son Peter (October 2015). He had a relentless sense of humour and a nickname for everyone. Whether you liked yours or not, once he picked it, that was your name. If he liked you, he was in your corner forever, and if he didn’t like you… Well, sorry for your luck!
Robert had an incredible sense of adventure and loved mountain snowmobiling. Never to be outdone, he took a little too much pride in reminding, and proving, he could keep up with the young bucks. He had a great appreciation for the valley and often commented on how lucky he felt to live in “God’s country.”
Robert was a true original, one-of-a-kind, impossible to replicate man. Although we had to say goodbye far too early, his memory will live on when we enjoy the beautiful outdoors, live life on the edge and give our loved ones a good-natured razzing.
Celebration of life will be held when gatherings are permitted. If you’d like to share a personal story or photos, please email RememberingRobertAnderson@gmail.com.
Robert is survived by; children Donna, Kathy, Ashley, Kimberly; wife Judith; sisters Judy and Yvonne; and eight grandchildren.
