Rigmor Nikoline (nee Bang) RANDRUP

RANDRUP Rigmor Nikoline (nee Bang) passed away peacefully September 17, 2010 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by husband Niels (2003), son Brian (1964), her brothers Niels and Jorgen, and her sisters Maria, Ingrid, Signe, and Magrethe. She is survived by her brother Haakon (Anna) Bang (Allingåbro, Denmark), her sons Henrik (Hank), Kim, and Peter, her daughters Susan, and Connie, as well as daughters-in-law Shelley Hrabarchuk and Jean Randrup, and sons-in-law, Mike Bundock and Spencer Wheatley.

Rigmor was a loving grandmother to Dana, Kyle, Brett, Christina, Kristy, Michael, Jayme, Lynsey, Tony, Darryl and Katelyn. Her legacy continues on with her great-grandchildren: Niels Robert Randrup, Heather Margaret Rigmor Randrup, Makayla Nikoline Randrup and Stella Karina Weiss.

Rigmor was the youngest child of Niels Peder Bang and Kathrine Sofie. She was born in Ørsted, Randers District, Denmark, on February 25, 1930. Rigmor, Niels and Henrik immigrated to Canada in 1956. They lived briefly in Smithers, and Hazelton before finally returning to Smithers, their permanent home.

Rigmor was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and over the years a surrogate “Mom” and “Gramma” to many others. She could be counted on to lend an ear and offer advice, which she insisted you were under no obligation to take.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Marius Scholtz, Dr. Biz Bastian, the E. R. staff, the home support staff that helped Peter care for her over her last 5 weeks, as well the nurses at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Old Church on the corner of First Avenue and King Street. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Smithers Community Cancer Care Team, PO Box 3776, Smithers, BC V0J 2N0
