Randy Stephen Glaim - Telkwa
February 15, 1967 – December 12, 2007
Taken suddenly from us, Randy our dear son, husband, father, baby brother and uncle.
Randy is known for his big heart and was loved by all of his family and friends. First and foremost Randy was a father to 3 boys Randy Jr., Rick and Rylan with Cindy and resided in Telkwa. Son, Randy Jr. made him proud when he graduated this year. His admiration for Rick for always helping as a mechanic. Rylan spent time playing baseball and driving to town for ice cream. They were all involved in sports; hockey, camping and trips to the hot springs.
Randy was taught by his Dad, Ivan, at age 13 years old to buck wood and then he later fell wood and was a certified faller. Direction was always followed from Dad and he remained close by Dad and Mother.
Randy built a shop where he leaves a legacy as a first rate mechanic who enjoyed repairing vehicles and heavy duty equipment. His last job was at Corwood as a sawyer, mechanic and drove the forklift and bobcat.
Randy’s favourite hobbies were remodeling cars, preparing for and driving in the demolition derby, Houston Drags, and mud bogging. He also liked skiing, motorbike riding and snowmobiling.
The Telkwa derby was Randy’s joy for 14 years – building cars and challenging all drivers, he nervously watched his mechanics and powder puff drivers who drove the car too. Randy won many trophies and would show his big smile after a victory.
Randy loved building things; furniture, decks, sheds, and fences. His last big job was the renovation on the family home with the help and encouragement of family and friends. They have been in the house since 2006.
Randy had many friends and he was a mentor. A Telkwa boy who would take time to talk or help and he was a trusted friend to many.
Randy is survived by: Father, Ivan Glaim; Wife Cindy Lou, sons Randy Jr., Rickey and Rylan; Mervin (Lucy) and children Jody-Lyn, Darla, Melissa, Jessica and Amanda; Darlene (Jerry) – Katrina and Michelle; Kevin and children Alisha and Chris; Lisa and children Stephen and Shila; Gerald and children Tyler, Stevy Lee and Ashley.
He is also survived by great nieces, great nephews and extended family and many friends.
Pre-deceased by his Mother, Joyce.
The funeral service for Mr. Randy Glaim will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in the Telkwa Community Hall with Pastor Dwayne Goertzen officiating. Memorial Tributes to the Randy Glaim Memorial Trophy in trust account are requested in lieu of flowers and can be made at the BV Credit Union. Interment is to be in the Telkwa Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.A. Schrader Funeral Home, Smithers, BC; 847-2441.
