Phyllis was born and raised near Montreal, Quebec. She later moved to Vancouver, and there she met and married Rob Widen in 1975. She and Rob raised their two sons in the Quesnel area and Telkwa before separating. She worked at the Smithers Ski Corporation, and then at the Smithers Access Centre until retirement.
Phyllis will be remembered as loving, competent, exuberant, generous, humble and brilliantly witty. She dearly loved her home, family and friends. Following a brief illness, she left them with grace, serenity and gratitude for the life she had been given.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her sons Cameron Widen (Grace) and Morgan Widen (Hayley); grandchildren Hunter and Teslin; her siblings; former husband Rob Widen, his wife Christina and his siblings; and many friends.
Her family thanks the doctors, palliative and home care nurses, hospice society and staff at B.V. District Hospital, who gave such amazing, loving care to Phyllis.
By her request, there will be no memorial service.
