April 25, 1923 – Sept. 12, 2007
Peter passed away peacefully on September 12, 2007. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Jean, son Greg (Jane), daughter Janet (Doug) and grandchildren David, Lisa and Andrew.
Born in Smithers to Harry and Anna, who were early settlers in the north. Early years were in Smithers and Burns Lake. He then served in the RCAF during WW2. Peter graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1951 and had a long career as a professional forester with the British Columbia Forest Service in Victoria and throughout the province, often in remote areas.
Peter enjoyed his family, the outdoors, golfing and gardening. He liked nothing better than to be wearing his hip waders fly fishing on the Skeena River and Bulkley River.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Broadmead Lodge in Victoria who over the last few years gave Peter the very best care. An informal gathering of family and friends to share memories of Peter Small’s life was held on Friday, September 21, 1-3 pm at the Oak Bay Pavilion at Windsor Park, 2451 Windsor Road, Victoria.
