November 14, 1939 - January 19, 2023
In loving memory ~
Percy was born November 14th, 1939 in Peace River, Alberta. Percy passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, just two short weeks after a diagnosis of brain cancer. He was the sixth child of nine siblings born and raised on a homestead farm.
Percy was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2021 (married 1984). Percy is survived by his children Ann, Nick (Gale), and Shannon, his grandchildren, Adrien (Myles), Eden, and Scott (Reo), and his three great-granddaughters.
Percy retired in 1994 after 35 years as a member of the RCMP. He served in Terrace, Tahsis, Armstrong, Vanderhoof, Smithers, and finally Kelowna. Percy lived life to the fullest every single day. Percy was passionate about hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He embraced all kinds of activities including downhill skiing, going to the gym (even though he sabotaged everyone else's workouts with his friendly chatter), and kayaking right until the end. He spent as much time as possible in the wilderness, and loved travelling the backroads of BC in his truck and camper, especially with his wife, Margaret. Margaret introduced Percy to scuba diving, and travelling and this became their joint passion.
Percy was a devoted husband, visiting Margaret daily in her long term care home after her stroke. Percy was a rock for his many friends and his family. He was adventurous, a story teller and described by many as their best friend. He could be trusted to always show up, no matter what the need... physical labour or a big hug.
In lieu of flowers, Percy's family welcomes messages sharing stories of his life well lived.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
