Mar 14, 1944 - May 20, 2018
Pam was born in Heswall, Cheshire, England, to parents Edward (Ted) and Brida Anderson. She grew up in the Merseyside area where her father was captain and later coach of Tranmere Rovers football club.

Pam married husband Bob Chapman in August 1967. In August 1968 Bob moved to Alberta to teach at the remote northern Dene community of Assumption. Because of the remoteness of the posting, Pam stayed in England to give birth to her oldest child, Andrew, before joining Bob at Christmas.

From Alberta the family moved to Masset (Q.C.I.) for 1 year, Prince Rupert for 5 years, Ross River, Yukon for 2 years and Kimberley for 2 years before settling in Smithers in 1979 when Bob accepted the position of principal at Lake Kathlyn School.

Pam is survived by her loving husband, Bob; children Andrew, Alison (Martin) and Mark (Danette) as well as six grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Jennifer in 1972.

Pam had a full life of caring for others. Her working life was spent caring for handicapped children and then for many years as a support councilor at the Passage House women's shelter, where she retired reluctantly at the age of 67 because of the onset of Parkinsonism. As a strong, caring, compassionate person, she loved her job and had great empathy for her clients.

Pam was well known for her wicked sense of humour. At the Bulkley Lodge where Pam spent her last few months, she will be remembered for blowing her trumpet when it was really quiet, and pulling the fire alarm when she was bored, among various other misdemeanors!

Pam's last seven years were a severe trial as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy symptoms worsened. This necessitated many ambulance trips to the hospital and several respite stays at the Bulkley Lodge. The family would like to express many thanks to all the health care practitioners involved in Pam's care especially Dr. Morkel, Pam's doctor throughout her illness.

A Memorial Service will be held for Pam in St. James Anglican Church in Smithers, on Saturday, June 2nd at 4:00 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Bulkley Valley Hospice Society, PO Box 8, 3862 D Broadway Ave., Smithers, BC V0J 2N0.
