Born in Sudbury Ontario, April 9, 1942 died August 7, 2019 at the age of 77 years old
I am gone but not forgotten. I love you all, Keep me in your prayers. Norman Renaud Ode to Norm
Who was this guy we called Norm? None of us knew him well and we think that is the way Norm liked it. Friends, yes, lots of them but, arms length friends.
One of the Valley's last homesteaders, Norm lived completely off the grid.
He grew a tremendous garden, ate wild meat and what he could not eat, he canned. He was completely self-sufficient; he trapped in Winter and fished in Summer. Except for a minor run in with the officiaidm, which he said was "one hell of a holiday".
Norm was his own man until the end camp when he rolled a quad over on himself.
He left the world alone but not without his friends, and, given a choice, Norm would have wanted it that way.
When I first met Norm, 35 years ago, I had just gotten back from the Philippines.
When Norm met my new wife, his only comment was "Got to get me one of them."
Other than that, Norm was an accomplished Artist, Taxidermist, Farmer, Logger, and Mechanic.
Norm was also a great storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humour. We will all miss you very much, dear friend Norm.
