Nellie was born in Brook, Sask. She moved to Williams Lake in 1923 and married Clifton Kinkead on Nov. 4, 1931. They lived in Alexis Creek and raised six children there. Nellie had the telephone office in her home for more than 25 years and taught Sunday School in her home for many years as well. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially cross country skiing.
After Clifton’s passing in 1965, Nellie moved to Mission and then to Smithers in 1981 where she joined the Hospital Auxiliary and worked at the New To You store for many years. She spent hours knitting mitts for the Senior’s Bazaars and helped out any way she could. She was always helping anyone in need. Mom loved the Lord and enjoyed the years she was able to attend church in Smithers as well as the Coffee Break Bible Study.
Nellie is survived by her children Stan (Bea) of Terrace, Allan (Lorrie) of Williams Lake, Joan McLennan of Vernon, Janet MacKay of Osooyos, Doreen (Gerhard) Walter of Smithers and Marilyn (John) VanTol of Telkwa.
