Mrs. Dorothy Beatrice Smith passed away Oct. 28, 2007 in the Bulkley Lodge at the age of 91 years.

Born in Manitoba to Daniel and Isabell Irvine, she met and married Victor Smith. She then had her children, Vernon, Harvey, Eleanor and Doreen before moving to North Pacific Cannery in B.C. in 1949, where she raised her other children, Danny, Arlene, Larry, Leonard, Carol and Gordon.

While living there she worked in the North Pacific Canneries as her husband Victor worked as a Fisherman after working years there they decided to relocate to Telkwa B.C. in 1965 living there raising there children.

Dorothy and Victor traveled back to North Pacific during the salmon season to continue their work at the cannery and Victor back gillnetting not only salmon, but halibut fishing too.

In the past few months she started to become ill not being able to overcome her sickness she sadly passed away at the age of 91.

Dorothy was loved dearly by her family and friends and all who knew her as (Gram). She will be sadly missed by all.

The mother we all loved and knew would like for us to stay together and keep strong.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 in the St. James Anglican Church with Rev. D. Moser officiating. Internment was in the Telkwa Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes to the Canadian Liver foundation, #109-828 West 8th Ave., Vancouver, B.C., V5Z 1E2 are much appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to the R.A. Schrader Funeral Home, Smithers, B.C. 847-2441.
