Menford Gordon Pederson

Nov. 2, 1917 to Aug. 9, 2010

Menford Pederson, aged 92, passed away peacefully at Bulkley Lodge on Aug. 9, 2010. He was born in Bromhead, SK, the fourth of eight children. Menford farmed in Bromhead for many years and in 1947 came to Smithers to work in the Telkwa coal mine. Later he worked winters in this area in trucking and logging, returning to Saskatchewan each spring to farm. When the farm was sold he returned to Smithers and worked for the Dept. of Highways until his retirement.

Menford is survived by his brothers, Oscar of Smithers and Willard (Doris) of Calgary, sister-in-law Irene of Weyburn, many nieces and nephews, step-son Don (Wendy) MacDonald, grandchildren Robin (Greg) Burns, Ken MacDonald, Keith (Marcy) MacDonald and six great grandchildren.

Menford was predeceased by his wife, Maude, and siblings Gladys, Elmer, Harry, Viola and Palmer.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bulkley Lodge, Dr. Kotze, and BV Hospice Society for their care and kindness.

Please join us for a memorial service and tea for Menford on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Place Activity Centre, Mountainview Dr., Smithers, B.C. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
