Mary (Mae) Ross Maurer passed away on December 19, 2018. Mae was predeceased by her brother Jack in 1942 and her husband Cleve in 2016. She is survived by her sons Jack (Eva) of Whittier, California, Mark (Judy) of Telkwa, BC and Doug of Victoria, BC, grandchildren Alexia, Keely and Andrew.

Born on June 2, 1924 in Montreal to John and Isa Fergusson, she was raised in Halifax. She met Cleve, an American, in Halifax while he served in the RCAF. They were married in 1943.

Cleve served for a brief stint in England and then was recruited by the US Army Air Core. Mae and Cleve moved to Arizona, where their first son, Jack, was born. After the war, they moved to California, where Mark and Doug were born. In 1969, Mae and Cleve moved to a cattle ranch on Walcott Station Road. In 2001, they moved to Victoria.

Mae was active in the Quick Women's Institute. She enjoyed camping, travelling and even took up downhill skiing at the age of 62! Mae had a long relationship with The Lord. In Smithers, she was a member of Mountain View Assembly.

A celebration of Mae's life was held in Victoria on December 28th, 2018. Donations in remembrance of Mae may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. Condolences may be offered at www.mccallgardens.com.
