Marina Bresser

June 2, 1936 – December 30, 2009

Nina Marina Buraglia-Bresser was born on June 2, 1936 in St. John, New Brunswick. She grew up in Canada and attained an AA degree in Business and Accounting.

She moved to California as a young college student, and there she met and fell in love with Robert Peter Bresser (Bob). Bob and Marina were married on May 25, 1957, in the Catholic Church. They settled in West Covina, CA, and started their family. As the family grew, they moved to Riverside, CA, then north to Susanville, CA, and finally to Smithers, BC in 1979. They had 7 children, and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last May.

Marina was a devout wife and mother. She loved her husband and all her children unconditionally, as well as all her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Marina had many loving friends, and extended family.

Marina was a friend to all she knew, and taught us much about unconditional love and acceptance. She easily gave all she had and always wanted to give more.

She regularly visited the sick and lonely.

Despite her health problems Marina found the motivation and energy to make the best out of life. She loved playing scrabble, sipping tea and walking with friends, listening to music, going to garage sales, baking and cooking for company. She grew a beautiful flower garden every season.

She loved hanging out with her kids and grandkids and never missed a birthday or special event. She loved road trips and travel abroad.

In Smithers, she worked as a secretary for Calderwood Reality, The Ministry of Forests and the Ministry of Social Services. After retiring, she volunteered for the Pro-Life office. Pro-Life was very deep to her heart and she was very active in the organization. She loved babies.

Marina was a member of the Pro-Life Executive Committee, the Catholic Women’s League, the Schizophrenia Society, and The Red Hat Ladies.

Marina is survived by:

Her husband: Bob Bresser of Smithers.

Children: Lori Kampf of Kamloops, Lynn Bresser, Todd Bresser (Diana) and Leslie Bresser of Telkwa.

Grandchildren: Jason Danner, Natiea Vinson, Leayra Donaldson, Renesha Bresser, Jeremy Beaubien, Clayton Beaubien, Laura Beaubien, Rebecca Beaubien, Desiree Olson, Danielle Olson, Dallas Olson, Levi Olson.

Great Grandchildren: Sarabel Danner, Clare Beaubien, Holly Beaubien.

Marina was predeceased by her father, mother and 2 sisters.

She was also predeceased by her son, Ted Bresser in 1987, her daughter, Lisa Beaubien in 2005, and her son, Tom Bresser in 2009.

They are rejoicing in heaven, but she is greatly missed by her family, extended family and many friends.

Marina loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. This prayer gave her particular inspiration during heart wrenching times:

Saint Theresa’s Prayer

“May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where

you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that

are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.”

The Bresser family would like to thank: RA Schrader Funeral Home, Father Rectorino Tolentino Jr, The Catholic Women’s League, and all our friends and community members.
