Marian KNOERR

November 25, 2016

Marian Knoerr was born on July 9, 1930 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from University of Oshkosh with a teaching degree, got married to her lifelong partner Don and moved to Canada in 1951. Together they purchased their farm in the beautiful Kitsequecla Valley where they lived and farmed for over 60 years only moving to town in 2013. Mom was a lifelong educator believing in giving opportunities for people with learning disabilities: first teaching, then over ten years on the school board, on the board for the Northern Training Centre and the Step Up learning program. She was also a member of a BC taskforce that led to the development of the Community College network in BC. Marian was involved in many community activities such as Bulkley Valley Players Club, Evelyn Community, Fall Fair Board, Canadian Cancer Society and the Resource Board.

Marian was always interested in what people do and would start

up a conversation with anyone in her easy way. She wanted to help whether family, friends or community. Marian is predeceased by her husband Don in 2014 and remembered lovingly by her children Sarah (Doug), Susan (Lee), Jill (Mike) and Jamie, her grandchildren Lane (Anita), Lars (Kelly), Jessie (Michaela), and Danielle (Chris) and her great granddaughter Therin.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bulkley Lodge for all

of the great care in the last two years. A remembrance for Marian

will be held at her farm in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to community charities.
