Lysa Terpstra

July 8, 2002

Lysa Terpstra passed away on the evening of July 8, 2002.

She was born in Smithers, B.C. on March 26, 1983. She is survived by her parents Sid and Sylvia Terpstra, sister, Jenna and Courtney, all of Abbotford and older sister Karla (and Bryan) Kornelius of Osler, SK.

Lysa was bound to a wheelchair, but her life had no boundaries. She had just successfully completed her first year of study and independent living at U. Vic.

She had traveled with a church youth group twice on a Mexicali Outreach, and she was chosen to go on a FYF experience to Grand Rapids and Turkey in 2001.

Her travels also included going to Smithers to help with the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada campaign.

Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Smithers Firefighters and all the canvassers who worked with Lysa’s extended family in Smithers on this event.

Your expressions of concern during her sudden illness the past 6 weeks and following her passing are much appreciated.

Lysa loved socializing and meeting people and will be greatly missed by everyone.

We know our Lysa has gone on to be with her Lord in heaven. We trust in God to give us courage, strength, and peace.

Sid, Sylvia, and family.

In memory of Lysa you are welcome to make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada or World Vision in care of Sid and Sylvia Terpstra, 35726 Hawkview Place, Abbotsford, B.C. V3G 2Y1.

Both causes were very close to Lysa’s heart.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
