Louis (Louie) Veress

January 13, 2009

Veress – Louis (Louie) passed away Jan. 13, 2009 with Mae at his side after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 76 years in Burns Lake, B.C.

Louie was born in Hungary and came to Canada in 1956, arriving in Halifax and then to Northern Canada and 20 feet of snow. Louie was well known and liked in the mining community.

A hard rock miner, Louie was involved in the mining industry for many years.

Louie and Mae first met in Merritt, but neither remembered. They met again in Smithers in 1981 and were together ever since, moving to Granisle in 1992. There, he became very involved with the Lions Club, Fire Department and the Seniors. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing, hunting, wood cutting, anything with the outdoors. Always ready to help anyone with anything, Louie will be greatly missed.

There will be a tea and chance to remember Louie with stories and tales on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 in the Granisle Seniors Hall starting at 1 p.m.

If friends so desire, donations to the B.C. Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the R. A. Schrader Funeral Home, Smithers, B.C. 250-847-2441

“Service with dignity.”
