October 27, 1960 - January 13, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Loralee Huisman on the evening of January 13th, 2022, at the age of 61. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour after a sudden massive stroke.
Loralee was born in Ashcroft, BC to Rex and Cherrie White. She was the second youngest in a family of 6 children that moved to the Bulkley Valley in 1972. She met her husband Theo while working at the Roi Drive- In Theatre in Smithers and they married on July 9th, 1983.
The loss of Loralee will be felt far and wide as she touched so many lives and made everyone feel seen and heard when she spoke with them. Her passion for hosting dinners as well as creating beautiful quilts and knitting will be sorely missed. Her excitement towards socializing and creating led her to open Creative Stitches in 2017 with her friend and business partner, Donna Schibli. Loralee loved her church, quilting, and local community. She had a very generous and selfless heart.
Loralee will be dearly missed by her husband of 38 years Theo, her daughter Melissa Butler (Jesse), her sons Kevin (Kelly) and Nathan. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren Emma, Clare, Kynslee, Theodore and Wesley. She is pre- deceased by her brother Rick, her mother Cherrie and her father Rex. She is survived by her 4 siblings Debbie, Robert, Trevor and Lynne.
Loralee's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital, the air ambulance team, and the doctors and nurses at Vancouver General Hospital. In lieu of gifts or flowers please make a donation in memory of Loralee to Rough Acres Bible Camp or the Pro- Life Society of Smithers.
